Bernie Suresparan, Founder and CEO of We Care Group and Summit Care Group, is celebrating after being named Social Care CEO of the Year for the second consecutive year.
Organised by EU Business News, the European CEO of the Year Awards recognise business leaders across the continent for their performance, innovation and positive impact on employees, customers and the wider community.
Bernie leads We Care Group – a family of care, nursing and dementia homes across the North and North West of England – and Summit Care Group, which operates specialist care homes across England.
Working with colleagues across both groups, he champions a culture rooted in family, honesty and respect, supporting teams to deliver person-centred care that helps residents live with dignity, choice and independence.
Under Bernie’s leadership, the groups have continued to grow and strengthen their support for residents. Notable recent developments include Summit Care Group’s acquisition of Herncliffe Nursing Home in West Yorkshire, and further recognition for their support for the Armed Forces community – with Hollins Bank Care Home becoming the first in Blackpool to achieve Veteran Friendly Framework status.
These developments sit alongside practical initiatives that support residents’ health, wellbeing and independence. At Herncliffe, staff helped a resident with Parkinson’s rediscover his love of painting following his diagnosis, while Byron Lodge near Rotherham reported a 45% reduction in ambulance callouts and a 62% reduction in falls-related ambulance callouts following the introduction of hydration stations.
