Amazon has announced a new Site Leader at its Swansea fulfilment centre.
Chris Bailey, who lives just 15 minutes from the site, was born and bred in the local area. He first joined Amazon in 2010 as a seasonal associate at the Swansea fulfilment centre while completing a master’s degree in business management, specialising in operations. After being accepted onto several graduate schemes, he chose Amazon and became the second ever graduate to work at Amazon in Swansea.
Over the past 14 years, Chris has worked his way through almost every level of the business, progressing from Area Manager to Operations Manager, and later joining the service transportation team as Regional Operations Manager for the West Cluster, overseeing seven sites stretching from Swansea to Swindon and as far north as Redditch. During this time, he helped shape Amazon’s Delivery Estimate Accuracy (DEA) strategy by implementing mechanisms that remain in place across the network today. He returned to the Swansea site in 2024 and officially passed his Site Leader assessment in February of this year.
The Swansea fulfilment centre is one of only three Amazon buildings in the UK that combines inbound, outbound and customer returns operations under one roof, and delivered a record-breaking festive period in 2026 with strong gains across all three paths.

Chris is looking forward to what his new role will bring.
“I really love this building, and I love what Amazon has given me. I’m naturally quite introverted, and Amazon has stretched me and pushed me outside my comfort zone. Early in my career, I realised I had to become comfortable being uncomfortable, because that’s where true growth comes from. By the end of this year, I’ll be completely different to how I started it – that’s the thing that still amazes me about working here.”
Speaking on the opportunities available at Amazon, Chris added:
“The really cool thing about Amazon is that there’s so much under its scope – you can move between different teams, and there’s a role to fit everybody’s niche. My advice to anyone considering joining would be to stay open to new opportunities, lean into your strengths, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. It’s been a journey, and I’m really proud of what the team here in Swansea continues to achieve.”
Amazon has been named as a ‘Top Employer UK 2026’ by the Top Employer Institute, one of the world’s most prestigious certifications in the field of human resources management.
