Launch of Best Conveyancer Guide Awards, which aim to give more transparency to residential conveyancing

Hot on the heels of the government’s home buying and selling roadmap reveal, the Best Conveyancer Guide Awards 2027 have been launched, aiming to introduce more transparency to the conveyancing industry and the client experience in residential home purchasing transactions. Conveyancing companies can see whether they have made this year’s shortlist by clicking http://www.bestconveyancerguide.co.uk/.
The Best Conveyancer Guide awards, which will be announced at the EA Masters event on 3 November 2026, are run by Leaders.inc and sponsored by LMS, a company that provides an innovative platform that connects and empowers all stakeholders, making conveyancing easy for everyone.
The awards aim to highlight best practice and best performance in the English and Welsh conveyancing industry and celebrate law firms that complete home sales more quickly and with outstanding service. They are based on analysis carried out by TwentyConvey, a data-led business that has been developing insights into the property market for around 30 years. Data is analysed from more than 3,900* conveyancing firms that completed a residential home purchase transaction in the last year in England and Wales, taken under licence from the Land Registry’s ‘price paid’ dataset and record of every conveyancing company that completes the AP1 form in England and Wales. TwentyConvey also tracks how long the property was on the market and the time between agreed sale and completion.
The Best Conveyancer Guide website highlights the top 10% of conveyancers who win an award: around 5% achieve a gold award and a further 5% a silver award.
The analysis is totally independent; there is no charge to enter, and it is carried out under the headings of:
● Time to complete
● Time to post completion submissions
● Requisitions
● Change in market share

Law firms that carry out residential conveyancing are analysed in the following size bands:
● Small (less than 150 completions per year)
● Medium (less than 500 completions per year)
● Large (more than 1,250 completions per year)
● National (firms that operate without geographic boundaries and complete on more than 1,251 transactions per year).
Some allowances are made for law firms that transact a large number of leaseholds or new builds.
Joanna Knight OBE, CEO of Leaders.inc says: ‘The insight from the data helps conveyancing firms understand their competitive position and where they sit in a pecking order geographically, so they can improve their performance and see how they compare to other law firms. Our awards data shows that some conveyancing firms are already implementing the measures the government is recommending in its official roadmap, such as using early adoption of smart tech and digital onboarding, working with their estate agency partners to improve the customer journey.”
Richard Hinton, Author at TwentyConvey says: ‘The home mover has been starved of any clear objective insight into the conveyancing profession, since day zero. We analyse cold hard data for the Best Conveyancer Guide award, assessing those companies worthy of an award, looking at an average across a whole year of a conveyancing firm’s cases to provide a more accurate picture of how a firm is actually performing.”
