Newcastle law firm Clarke Mairs joins legal services group Orwins

Orwins, the law firm for ambitious businesses and high net worth individuals, has today announced its investment into Clarke Mairs in Newcastle upon Tyne.

 

It follows its investment into Clarkslegal in May this year, with Orwins now having offices in Manchester, London, Reading and Newcastle upon Tyne.

 

Backed by Aliter Capital, Orwins now has almost 200 staff and combined revenues of £28m. The firm aims to double in size over the next two years, targeting revenues of over £50 million.

 

Headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, Clarke Mairs is a full-service commercial law firm specialising in litigation,insolvency, commercial property, company and commercial law and private client.  The firm’s 48 strong team is led by ten partners, serving clients across the North East of England and beyond.

The current partners at Clarke Mairs are remaining with the firm and will become shareholders in Orwins.

 

Aliter Capital first invested in Manchester-based BBS Law in October 2024 and then Carter Bond in August 2025. The firm rebranded as Orwins in May 2026 following its investment into Clarkslegal.
