A Royal Finale: Christopher Dean Receives Knighthood Alongside Jayne Torvill

British sporting icon Christopher Dean swapped his figure skates for a morning suit as he was officially knighted at Windsor Castle.
In a historic and moving investiture ceremony, Sir Christopher was honoured alongside his lifelong ice dance partner, Dame Jayne Torvill, for services to ice skating and to voluntary service. The pair celebrated the milestone by sharing behind-the-scenes selfies directly from the ceremony.
The dual accolade marks the ultimate crowning achievement for the pair, who captivated a global audience of millions with their Bolero routine at the 1984 Winter Olympics, and who recently completed their Our Last Dance farewell tour.
For the occasion, Sir Christopher wore a tailored navy morning suit and pale blue waistcoat by one of his go-to British brands, Dobell.
Long before he was a household name, Sir Christopher served as a police constable with the Nottinghamshire Police in the late 1970s, balancing night shifts on the beat with dawn training sessions on the ice. Today’s ceremony focused on a lifetime of dedication to British sport, culture, and charity.
Speaking from the grounds of Windsor Castle after the ceremony, Sir Christopher Dean said:
“It’s been a wonderful and memorable day receiving this Knighthood. Standing here at Windsor Castle in a beautifully tailored morning suit, celebrating alongside Jayne, makes the entire journey feel complete. We started our careers together and it is an incredibly special feeling for us both to be here in such a historic setting. This is an occasion I will cherish forever. “
