Clogau unveils affordable luxury with major lab-grown diamond bridal launch

Clogau has unveiled a new lab-grown diamond bridal collection, giving customers the chance to own a piece of the brand’s iconic heritage at a more accessible price point.

The launch marks the biggest expansion yet of lab-grown diamonds within Clogau’s bridal offering, with the stones taking centre stage in the company’s popular Compose range. Customers can now create bespoke engagement rings featuring larger, high-quality diamonds at a fraction of the cost of traditionally mined stones.

Globally recognised for its use of rare Welsh gold – famously known as the “Gold of Royalty” and used in royal wedding rings for more than a century – Clogau is blending its rich heritage with modern innovation to offer customers a fresh take on one of its most sought-after signature products.

The tradition of using Welsh gold for royal wedding rings began in 1923 with Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon and has continued through generations of the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth II, Diana, King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and most recently Prince William and Catherine.

Managing Director Ben Roberts said: “This is a really exciting moment for Clogau. Engagement rings have always been one of our most in-demand categories, and for many people, owning a Clogau engagement ring has been something they’ve dreamed about for years.

“We’ve been exploring lab-grown diamonds because this market has become huge in the US and Asia, making up more than half of the diamond market in some categories, so we knew it was something we had to understand.

“With our new lab-grown diamond bridal collection, we’re making that dream more accessible while still delivering the quality, craftsmanship and identity that people expect from Clogau.”

He added: “We’ve always stayed true to our heritage while embracing what’s new. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically and physically identical to mined diamonds, and they allow us to offer customers larger, beautiful stones at a far more accessible price.

“Some brands have moved entirely to lab-grown diamonds across all their collections, but for us, this is about giving customers more choice while keeping the craftsmanship, hand-finished detailing and Welsh gold that make a Clogau ring instantly recognisable.”

Because the diamond forms such a significant part of the ring, the savings are substantial, creating strong value for customers.

Ben added: “A couple can now design a one-carat single stone Clogau engagement ring in gold for as little as £1,200, which has never been possible before.

“We’ve even seen customers create three-carat engagement rings for as little as £2,900 with a D-colour stone. It’s fantastic to be able to offer that level of quality and make such an iconic purchase more achievable for more people.

“The real USP here is the price, but every ring still carries the same hallmarks that make a Clogau piece instantly recognisable – the hand-finished detailing, the Welsh gold, and the craftsmanship passed down through the decades.”

Clogau first introduced lab-grown diamonds within its Celebration collection, but the bridal expansion represents the company’s most significant move yet into the fast-growing lab-grown diamond market.

Compose by Clogau is available online and across the company’s UK stores, including Bangor, Broughton Shopping Park, Carmarthen, Cardiff, Swansea, Wrexham, Chester, Llandudno, Cwmbran, Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village, Bridgend Designer Outlet and Cyfarthfa Shopping Park in Merthyr Tydfil.

Founded in 1989, Clogau remains one of the UK’s best-known jewellery brands, celebrated for its use of rare Welsh gold, award-winning craftsmanship and longstanding royal connections.
