Europe’s leading shared services event heads to Portugal in May

Shared Services & Outsourcing Week Europe is on 18 – 21 May

Over 850 people will attend Shared Services & Outsourcing Week (SSOW) Europe in May, Europe’s leading event for the shared services community. Taking place this year on 18 – 21 May at Estoril Conference Centre, Portugal, the event will explore how to best deliver value through shared services – the consolidation of support functions across a business.

Speakers at the event include Caroline Basyn from The Adecco Group, Iwona Sikora from Iron Mountain, Gunter Van Craen from Bekaert, Madeleine Roach from Sanofi, Guy-Laurent Arpino from Louis Dreyfus Company and Edvinas Katilius from Philip Morris International. Key topics will include agentic AI, increasing maturity in shared services, operating models, adding value and supporting talent and careers in the industry.

Cathy Gu, event director at SSOW Europe, said: “The role of AI will be a key talking point at the event this year. It is already transforming the sector with 38% of senior shared services professionals expecting AI to replace some capabilities in the next three years, and a further 46% considering it.

“This is becoming even more important as we are seeing another shift in shared services. While it has traditionally been seen as a way to increase efficiency, there is now a growing focus on how shared services can add value, not just save money. SSOW will bring together the community to discuss challenges and opportunities in the industry and share best practice, strategy and ideas to help the shared services sector continue to evolve and thrive.”
