Hiut Denim Co. Sets Out Ownership Structure and Leadership for Thriving Cardigan Denim Brand

Hiut Denim Co. has confirmed its ownership and leadership structure as the business continues to consolidate operations in Cardigan.

The company is owned by EAAVL, a family-run business, with Johann von Loeper serving as Chief Executive Officer. Von Loeper oversees the day-to-day running of the company, working alongside the leadership team and production staff in Cardigan to maintain operational continuity and long-term strategic focus.

Founded to bring jean making back to Cardigan following the decline of large-scale denim manufacturing in the town, Hiut operates a small-batch production model centred on in-house design and manufacturing.

All Hiut jeans are designed, cut and finished in Cardigan by the company’s team of GrandMasters — highly experienced denim makers whose collective expertise spans several decades. This includes a cutter aged 75 with more than 50 years’ experience working with denim locally.

The company is also investing in training new makers to support skills retention and long-term workforce sustainability.

Johann von Loeper said:

“Hiut is built on the belief that fashion can be done differently. By designing and making in-house, we create products where the care behind them is something people feel in their everyday lives.”

Hiut said its ownership structure is designed to provide stability and support continued investment in people, skills and production processes, while maintaining the values on which the business was founded.
