The Chester Business Club is encouraging locals to put their best foot forward – and take part in their famous charity walk.
The popular event returns on September 21 and organisers are hoping to raise thousands once again for good causes.
Last year nearly 200 walkers braved challenging weather to help generate £10,000 for charities – and this year promises to be an even bigger and better experience.
Peter Broxton, Chairman of the Walk Committee, said, “The Chester Business Club Charity Walk is a great way for charities to raise money. Registration is free through the Business Club’s website, and participants can raise sponsorship for one of our headline charities, a charity of their choice or the club’s own charity fund.”
The headline sponsor for this year’s event is Magnify PR, founded by Nick Owens, and a member of the Chester Business Club’s Executive Council.
“The CBC walk has become an iconic event for this great city,” Nick said. “And it’s always wonderful to see so many people taking part. There’s a real family feel to the day with dogs often brought along. This adds to the fun. Hopefully this year we’ll have better weather but whatever happens I’ve no doubt it will be a great event, and I’d encourage everyone to enjoy it, take part and help raise money for good causes.”
This year’s walk will take place on Sunday September 21, starting at 11:00 am from Chester Racecourse. The six-mile gentle stroll includes legendary refreshment stops including a Mars Bars, orange juice, bacon or vegetarian butties.
And it finishes with a celebratory gin and tonic or soft drink. Face painting will also be available for children and adults to add to the festivities and excitement of the event. Prizes will be awarded to the best-behaved dog, and there will also be a consolation prize for the worst-behaved canine, as well as a prize for the top fundraiser.
Joelle Warren, MBE, DL, The High Sheriff of Cheshire, will officially start this year’s walk.
The Club provides sponsorship forms specific to each charity, including Gift Aid, to maximise donations, and the Chester Racecourse has kindly provided its venue for the start and finish of the Charity Walk.

Everyone is encouraged to come along and bring friends, family, and dogs, and help raise vital funds for headline charities Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Cheshire Connect, or a charity of their choice.
