Eco-conscious housebuilder partners with UK’s first climate-positive paint company

In an industry-first sustainable living partnership, eco-conscious housebuilder HarperCrewe and B-Corp paint innovator COAT Paints have come together to provide new homeowners with a curated palette of accessible shades, with COAT’s leading formula on display across the national developer’s showhomes.

COAT Paints is a B-Corp certified, zero waste paint company that consciously delivers one hundred percent made to order interior and exterior formulas. With the aim to provide high-quality, stylish shades without the hassle or environmental impact, the UK’s first climate-positive paint company shines in an industry of overproduction.

HarperCrewe has formed a strong relationship with the paint company, founded on their shared mission to connect conscious customers with sustainable options.  As a result, homeowners at selected new developments will now be able to access COAT’s assortment of shades at an exclusive HarperCrewe discount.*

Sustainability on Display

The housebuilder’s recently launched showhome at its new neighbourhood in Harlington, Bedfordshire, is the first to display COAT’s non-toxic shades, and marks the launch of HarperCrewe’s wider sustainable living I AM CREWE initiative; a group of like-minded companies that have joined HarperCrewe’s eco-conscious community mission.

In the second half of the year, three further showhomes are due to launch at HarperCrewe’s upcoming new-build developments in Creswell, Derbyshire; Pershore, Worcestershire; and Stoke Orchard, Gloucestershire. In reflection of the housebuilder’s commitment to the partnership and its journey towards complete sustainability, each showhome will display COAT’s climate-positive paint shades.

In an interview with HarperCrewe, Rob Abrahams, Co-Founder of COAT Paints, said: “I think this partnership is particularly meaningful because HarperCrewe have thought about everything, from the bricks and mortar through to the final finishes, so putting sustainability as the focus throughout the project really stands out from a housebuilder perspective.

“We were really excited to work with HarperCrewe on this project because we know they want to do something genuinely different. The spotlight that they’re putting on sustainability and sourcing sustainably is really something close to COAT’s heart, so it was a natural fit.”

Building a Legacy

HarperCrewe is the founding housebuilder of the HarperCrewe Group, backed by US-based real-estate investor TPG Angelo Gordon and UK-based investor Ridgeback Group. It is committed to exceeding sustainable housebuilding standards in the UK through collaborative innovation and the quality building at its roots.

Danielle Heard, Sales Director at HarperCrewe, said: “Coming from a larger housebuilder, I knew that HarperCrewe’s distinctively sustainable ethos required a completely unique approach that would disrupt the industry’s tendency to drag its heels. With the help of the innovative technology and forward-thinking mindset behind COAT Paints, this is exactly what we aim to do through the partnership.

“Alongside the rest of our I AM CREWE partner group, COAT has helped us to connect our distinctly eco-conscious customers with genuinely high-quality and sustainable materials for their new homes. It really encapsulates exactly what we are striving to do within the wider I AM CREWE initiative, connecting like-minded people and businesses into a community that strives for authentic and progressive change.”

The I AM CREWE initiative is designed to bridge the gap between the housebuilding industry’s conventional energy-efficient homes and the truly sustainable lifestyle HarperCrewe creates. Alongside COAT Paints, HarperCrewe has welcomed B-Corp names such as The Seep Company, NEAT and Pott Candles on board.

Danielle continues: “We continually consider every element of our supply chain, and that spans from the materials we use when building our homes to the welcome gifts waiting for new homeowners. That’s why people choose HarperCrewe, they come to us because they want to make sure they’re investing into the right people, who are always looking for ways to do better by the environment.”

Future Progression

HarperCrewe is set to bring 250 new sustainable homes to developments across the country in 2025, with a projected 500 homes estimated for 2026. As the I AM CREWE initiative continues to grow, the housebuilder welcomes further collaborations with similarly forward-thinking businesses and urges like-minded people to come forward and be part of the vision.
