Stirling, Scotland — 1st November, 2024 — Stirling Distillery proudly announces the release of its Stirling 900 Limited Edition Whisky, a spirit created to celebrate 900 years of Stirling’s rich history. This special edition whisky embodies the enduring spirit of Stirling, celebrating the city’s unique role at the crossroads of Scotland’s Highland and Lowland whisky routes and highlighting the return of whisky production to Stirling.
With a limited release of just 90 bottles, this 9 year old Lowland single malt is a tribute to the historic city’s strategic significance, serving as a meeting point for trade, culture, and the appreciation of Scotland’s most iconic spirit. Steeped in the essence of Stirling’s rich heritage, each bottle reflects the city’s legendary past while showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship Stirling Distillery has revived in recent years. This release signifies more than just a spirit; it’s a symbol of resilience, tradition, and a passionate dedication to Scottish whisky-making.
“The Stirling 900 Limited Edition Whisky is a celebration of not only 900 years of Stirling’s legacy but also our commitment to preserving and progressing Scotland’s whisky heritage,” said Cameron McCann, Co-founder, Stirling Distillery. “As a distillery deeply rooted in this remarkable city, we wanted to offer a whisky that honours Stirling’s historical significance while bringing something new and exciting to Scotland’s whisky community.”
Crafted to embody Stirling’s role as the gateway between the Highlands and Lowlands, this whisky offers a profile that seamlessly blends the bold characteristics of Highland malts with the smooth, balanced notes emblematic of Lowland whiskies. Matured in a Barrique 1st fill Oloroso Sherry cask, the Stirling 900 boasts a unique tasting experience. On the nose, one finds bright notes of orange peel and a hint of cut grass, opening up to a rich and complex palate of malt loaf, with layers of fruity raisins and almonds. The finish lingers, with spiced fruits that slowly give way to a gentle, dried malt—an invitation to savour Stirling’s history with every sip.
Priced at £90, this commemorative release is set to be a sought-after collector’s item and a quintessential expression of Stirling’s historical and cultural heritage. The bottle features a unique label created by Scottish artist Ritchie Collins, that incorporates a coat of arms found in Stirling Castle, adding a touch of Stirling’s visual history to this limited run whisky.
The Stirling 900 Limited Edition Whisky will be available from Monday 4th November with first refusal already offered to Stirling Distillery’s whisky cask club members. In addition, those attending Saturday’s Stirling Whisky Festival can get their hands on bottles before going on general release.
