Renowned English snooker player Shaun Murphy has signed exclusively with Champions (UK) plc.
‘The Magician’ has signed a three-year deal with the growth consultancy firm, after first working with the Leicestershire-based company over 20 years ago.
Murphy, currently placed seventh in the World Snooker rankings, is widely recognised as the 2005 Snooker World Champion. He famously beat Welsh icon Matthew Stevens as a qualifier in the final aged 22, after being a 150-1 outsider pre-tournament.
The 41-year-old has since compiled over 600 century breaks, 25 event victories and completed the ‘Triple Crown’. Known for his exceptional cue ball control and break-building skills, Murphy has secured multiple titles throughout his career, and claimed the title of the last-ever Embassy Champion, second-youngest player of all-time and WST Magical Moment of the Year 2024.
Beyond his prowess on the snooker table, he is also a respected commentator and analyst, contributing his insights to various snooker broadcasts. Murphy’s dedication to the sport and his charismatic presence have made him a beloved figure in the world of snooker.
Commenting on his new partnership with Champions (UK) plc, who will support Murphy across sponsorship, endorsement and speaking opportunities, he said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be signing with Champions. Their support will definitely help elevate my career to new heights.
“Joining forces with such a dynamic team feels like the perfect next step, and I am eager to see what we can achieve together. This partnership opens up incredible opportunities for growth and success, and I am excited to embark on this journey with Champions.”
John Hayes, CEO, also commented: “I am delighted to announce that Shaun Murphy has signed exclusively with Champions (UK) plc!
“Shaun is a truly talented snooker player, and we’re ecstatic to add him to our growing ‘Champions of Champions’ roster. Alongside his incredible snooker career, he’s also a brilliant after dinner and motivational speaker, offering insights into his many victories from resilience to strategic thinking.”
Murphy will now be looking ahead to the beginning of the 24/25 World Snooker Tour, which kicks off with the Championship League at Leicester Arena on Monday.
