Latest ALFED members programme targets the next generation of STEM

The Aluminium Federation (ALFED) is set to host the first training sessions of its latest initiative, the ‘Aluminium Ambassador Programme’. Launched in partnership with Bloodhound Education, the programme will host both an online (22 August) and in-person (11 September) session.

Exclusive to ALFED members, the initiative will establish industry role models drawn from member companies to inspire the next generation of professionals by showcasing the aluminium industry. Designed to spark subject and career interest, Aluminium Ambassadors will be trained to go into educational and corporate settings to deliver informative talks and run EnvironmentAl trained workshops.

A comprehensive training programme, designed with Bloodhound Education, includes the delivery of hands-on aluminium related activities, to bring the curriculum to life and strengthen the link between the classroom and careers.

Tom Jones, CEO of ALFED, commented: “The ALFED Aluminium Ambassador Programme is a great opportunity to establish industry role models to support the UK aluminium sector. Education around UK aluminium, the opportunities it presents and the variability of roles available within, is crucial to the future of the industry.

“Our ambassadors will be vital in the education and training of students, parents and teachers, promoting the benefits of a career in a leading sustainable industry and to ensure the future succession of skilled professionals.”

Kirsty Allpress, CEO of Bloodhound Education, added: “We’re delighted to have partnered with ALFED to deliver such an important programme. We’re passionate about supporting the next generation of STEM professionals and this is a fantastic opportunity to do so.

“Not only that, but it’s a great way of combining real life application and an educational setting. By training professionals from across the industry, the ambassadors will be able to provide a unique insight to the students – through knowledge and experience.

“We’re excited to get the programme underway and play a significant role in inspiring the next generation of scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.”
