Secop Awarded TOP 100 Innovator for Cutting-Edge Ultra-Low Cooling Solution

Secop has received the TOP 100 Innovator Award 2023. Among the innovative solutions developed by Secop that contributed to this recognition there are a set of medical cooling solutions optimized for the safe storage, transport and handling of highly sensitive substances including pharmaceuticals, vaccines, cells, genes, blood, etc.

The Award is given annually to companies that have demonstrated a commitment to developing cutting-edge solutions. The TOP 100 independent and scientific selection process value a company’s overall approach to innovation and not just its innovative products. The award has been bestowed upon Secop as recognition of its innovative solutions in the refrigeration industry and its philosophy and processes toward innovation.

“We are honored to be named as one of the TOP 100 Innovators, this is the result of the cooperation between different departments located in Germany, Austria, Slovakia and China”, says Jan Ehlers, CEO of the company. “This recognition is based on the hard work and dedication of our employees and the passionate as well as committed approach inside our teams to stimulate innovative ideas and convert them into better products, solutions and services for our industry.”

Innovation at Secop is not only reflected in innovative solutions but in the reliability of cooling equipment, essential to ensure the quality and usability of stored assets. The medical and vaccine cold chain requires storage and transport at different temperature levels: +2°C to +8°C and -20°C down to -86°C. Innovation is key to guarantee reliable designs for safe product delivery in various ambient conditions. To achieve this results Secop invested in specific developments focused on cold chain solutions.

The main products recently developed for medical cold chain are:

Cascade Condensing Unit: The name derives from the combination of 2 compressors in series. It is one of the systems configurations used to achieve ultra-low temperature freezing temperatures for medical cold chain. This system is optimized for the last mile of distribution for the new generations of vaccines and offers mobile operation even in high ambient conditions such as in tropical regions.

SDD: A new generation of solar direct drive controls for BD Nano: SDD technology uses solar power to drive cooling systems in remote areas not connected to the grid. Secop, the leading supplier of solar direct drive solutions, has developed a new generation of SDD controllers optimized for the new BD Nano-Series.

Fix speed and variable speed compressor range: This range is dedicated for medical solution with new compressor designation and code numbers, optimized characteristics, VDE, CCC, and UL compliant and compatible and approved for refrigerants, e. g. R170 and others upon request.

Secop with the innovative solutions supports fighting COVID-19, Ebola and other diseases.

Secop provides a solution with several benefits such as enhanced robustness, ultra-low temperature technology, and compatibility with refrigerant Ethan (R170) with its new medical compressors range. This makes them the ideal solution for hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies, research centers, universities, and the medical industry. The medical and vaccine cold chain requires storage and transport at different temperature levels: +2°C to +8°C, -20°C down to -86°C. Stability is key to guarantee safe product delivery up to the last mile temperature.

New highly effective mRNA-based vaccines supporting the fight against COVID-19, and Ebola, or CGTs (cell and gene therapies) require an ultra-low storage and transportation temperature for all phases of the cold chain. Secop stationary and mobile solutions make the company a reliable partner for leading companies supporting the development of a global ULT (ultra-low temperature) supply chain.

The cooling solutions developed by Secop are WHO-certified

Secop compressor and control electronic solutions are used in different applications which are officially certified by WHO (World Health Organization) to support global access to vaccines. With the SDD (Solar Direct Drive) solution, Secop is able to support the distribution of vaccines in regions with a limited electricity grid, even in severe ambient conditions. The Secop solution is the only one used in WHO certified vaccine refrigerators.
