The coronavirus pandemic has tested every area of the conventional approach to working, including where, when and how this work is done. Homeworking and flexible working patterns are likely to continue, and there is a growing focus on supporting wellbeing and fostering engagement within these models.
To help HR professionals navigate the changes ahead, XpertHR is hosting a webinar, The Future of the Workplace, where Gemma Dale, HR professional, coach and lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University will share her insights on what has been learnt as result of mass homeworking and different working arrangements, and how this will inevitably shape the future workplace.
A recent study from recruiter, Robert Half[i] shows that 89% of UK businesses expect hybrid working trends – a blend of home and office working – to become permanent following a 190% increase in remote work job postings since the beginning of the pandemic.
It also reports that employees are keen to take advantage of the opportunities hybrid and flexible working have created, with two-fifths (39%) having looked to relocate while working remotely and half wanting to move to a four-day week.
Noelle Murphy, Senior HR practice editor, at XpertHR says, “The pandemic has accelerated many workplace trends such as flexible and remote working. Whilst employers and employees were forced into this, many are keen to not return to the old ways of working which they feel is no longer fit for purpose.
“HR leaders will play a key role in shaping processes and policies to ensure whatever changes are put in place are fit for purpose, and balance the desire for flexible working with the practicalities of business operations.”
“The webinar will explore some of the options available, and how HR can influence the future workplace and working patterns. For HR, this will include ensuring that any changes are fair and equitable to all employees, while facilitating the day-to-day people management tasks such as performance management, recruitment, onboarding and succession planning.”
The webinar will also focus on the continuing priority for HR of employee engagement and wellbeing– and how lessons’ learned from the past 12 months can be used to develop effective processes.
