Kettering General Hospital & Northampton General Hospital recruiting Hospital CEOs to reshape care services

Following the recruitment of their first Group Chief Executive Officer earlier this year, Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH) are recruiting two Hospital Chief Executives  Officers (HCEO) to lead each of the hospitals and develop greater collaboration between them, as they move to a Group model to strengthen health services in Northamptonshire.

The Group has an ambition to become a university hospitals group and, with major capital investment approved by the Secretary of State, is planning to reshape the estate to rival many of the most modern acute care facilities and attract the best available talent on the market. The Group is also recruiting a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and a Group Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO).

The county’s diverse population of around 700,000 people is one of the most rapidly growing in England. Collectively, the two Trusts have 1,440 beds, a revenue budget of over £500m and approximately 10,000 staff. With a number of Group roles now in place they are seeking to appoint two, Hospital Chief Executive Officers (HCEO).

The key responsibility of the CEOs will be to ensure each Trust meets its statutory, regulatory and governance obligations, providing services that continuously improve patient care, patient safety and the overall patient experience, whilst contributing strategically to the development of the group to ensure it has the capacity, capability, leadership and culture to deliver outstanding performance. The closing date for the roles is 20th November 2020.

Alan Burns, Chair, Kettering General Hospital NHS FT and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust said, “Moving to a group model, but retaining the existing boards, will enable both Trusts to integrate their clinical services whilst developing innovative approaches to streamlining pathways, with a clear focus on doing the right thing for patients every time.

“We are now seeking kind, compassionate and inclusive leaders for our two hospital sites who will make great things happen in each Trust, and bring people together and with them on our ambitious group journey.

This will require individuals with substantial experience in an acute environment, a track record at Board level of achieving sustained service change and improvement, and a knowledge of building effective and productive working relationships with a wide range of people and partners and a collaborative management style.”

The Group is also recruiting a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will have accountability for strategic oversight, decision making and financial performance, and a Group Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) to develop and deliver the digital strategy who will be an Executive member of the Board of Directors at each Trust and report to the Group Chief Executive Officer. The closing date for the CFO role is 19th November and the CDIO role 20th November 2020.
