XpertHR is hosting a webinar with employment lawyer and XpertHR consultant editor Darren Newman to give employers advice on how to protect their business as restrictions imposed to deal with the spread of coronavirus, such as self-isolation and social distancing, are having a major impact.
Many businesses are facing dwindling customer demand, issues in their supply chains, and the logistics of operating with a remote workforce.
They are being forced to consider a variety of measures, such as freezing pay, reducing hours and pay, asking employees to take holiday, temporary lay-offs and, as a last resort, redundancies, in order to survive.
In the live 60-minute webinar Darren will guide employers through a range of potential measures including:
- Freezing pay and deferring bonuses
- Seeking volunteers for sabbaticals or other forms of unpaid leave
- Short-time working, lay-offs and the Government’s new Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
- Instigating a redundancy process and ensuring it is fair and stands up to inspection
Jo Stubbs, XpertHR’s global head of product content strategy, says, “Employers are in an unprecedented situation. Many are being forced to contemplate steps that would have seemed unthinkable just a few weeks ago – often things they have little or no experience of dealing with.”
“HR professionals and employers who join our webinar will be able to get expert advice and ask questions so they can understand the options open to them in relation to their workforce, and the implications of taking different actions. We want to arm them with the information to try to protect their business and their employees at this challenging time.”
The webinar will include a Q&A session and registrants are asked to submit up to three questions at the point of registration.
