The London HR Connection is delighted to welcome Andy Bindon, Group HRD at the UK’s largest rail operator, Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), as our guest speaker on 17th October.
Many organisations face significant challenges when transforming and modernising their business but the GTR story would test the mettle of any leadership team. The biggest rail operator in the UK providing almost a million passenger journeys per day through its Thameslink, Southern, Great Northern and Gatwick Express services, GTR has also been the subject of the UK’s bitterest and longest running industrial dispute in the last 30 years.
In what is one the most significant industrial change programmes in UK, GTR is driving a £7 billion investment in upgrading the network through automation – something that involves substantial changes in working practices to deliver better performance and customer service.
Andy will discuss the HR and people issues that lie at the heart of such a business and share some of the experiences and some of the lessons that are still being learnt as GTR continues to modernise and transform the busiest part of the UK rail network in a highly regulated environment.
Group HRD at GTR since its inception in 2014, Andy is one of the UK’s most experienced HR professionals in the sector and has enjoyed a long and successful HR career that has included roles at South Eastern Railways and London Underground. He is a NED of a leisure company, a visiting lecturer on HR and has a Master’s Degree in Employment Strategy.
You can find more information here about the event – but fast booking is recommended as HR Connection events often sell out fast.
